Re: Non starting B4 AAZ

I don't know anything about Diesels, but I wonder if your engine has a crankshaft position sensor, (aka engine speed sensor).

They seem to be a common cause of intermittent 'crank no start' issues. If your engine has such a thing it may be worth changing it as they are not usually expensive.

Just ...

Re: rear suspension bolt torque

I cannot think that the torque values are critical in these instances, but values are stipulated because the robots used in production have to be programmed with a value.

It seems the values in this case are 45 & 50 Nm.

Re: Alarm horn siren with pics

Any rechargeable battery of 6v any around 200mAh capacity will be fine. It does not have to be fitted on the circuit board, so long as it will fit in the alarm box without making contact with anything else in there.

If it will not fit in the box you could attach it to the outside and run wires from ...

Re: Alarm horn siren with pics

That battery pack is a NiMH rechargeable which consists of 5 individual batteries (actually cells), of 1.2v each, (total 6v), in a shrink-wrapped plastic sleeve.

Such things are used to maintain a voltage to any circuit that required a voltage in order to retain its memory or other settings. They ...

Based on a year 2003 model with the AWT or AWM engine, the part number for the tensioner is:

058109088E
or
058109088K

In practice, it is possible that you can use any that has the same number but with a different suffix letter, though you should check that with the seller first of course!!

The wiring loom connector to the swirl flap actuator looks ok despite its incredibly stupid twisted design ( do VAG do this built- in -fault stuff on purpose??).

The 'twisted pairs' are used, in the case of cars, on the pairs of communication lines, (such as CANBUS).

Think of these wires ...

I have not done this job on a B6 but the basic design looks pretty similar to that on my 1999 SEAT, which is identical in design, if not in exact parts, to the B5.

Is there anything I can unplug that would bring the EML on?

Regarding the radiator fan.

Simple thing first.... have you tried it with the air-conditioning switched off?, (I think the display will show 'Econ' when the AC is off).

Radiator fans will usually be on all the time the AC is on, irrespective of anything else.
