Re: B3 Drivers manual door window not working

Just found this on line.

It looks like a less nerve-wracking method but you may need to buy some woodworking clamps.

Re: B3 Drivers manual door window not working

The usual problem with that lift rail is that it corrodes over time, and opens up from a U section to more of a V section, and thus loses its grip on the glass. It seems that is not what has happened to yours though. A new seal may help if yours has become hardened with age. However, I think the clu...

DON'T DRILL TOUGHENED GLASS!!

It will shatter!

Here is a demo.... (always a great idea, when trying to drill through glass, to wear sandals, shorts and no eye protection!)

Re: awx engine not warming up

That is good news.

I think that everyone here should perhaps now adopt the mindset that anything other than a genuine CTS is suspect, because this has happened so many times.

Really pleased that you have cured the problem.

Re: awx engine not warming up

A few years ago I fitted a pattern part CTS (£5ish) in my SEAT to fix a non-start/rough running problem. It never really seemed to be very satisfactory and after about a week the engine would again not start easily. I was not keen to spend £34 on a genuine part, but it was the only way I could get o...

Not sure if this will help you or not.

Part number for cylinder had for SB engine is:

068103351AK (bare head)

or

068103265MX (with valves and camshaft).

Other EU market vehicles that used these part numbers shown in the screen shot:

There are two versions of that clamp and bolt. Both are listed on ebay and you can see the differences between them in those listings. Search for the following part numbers. 05 02 > 05 03. 8D0127224D This is the type in the diagram, with the bolt running parallel to the filter. Cheapest on ebay is £...

I know nothing of the Diesel engine, (and I am happy for it to stay that way as I hate the pong of Diesel), so I have no idea if I have understood you correctly, but if I have, this is the diagram of the fuel filter. Can you identify from it the part you are seeking? If the diagram is not helpful, p...

Can you post your engine code? With that, it might be possible to identify a part number and that might make your search easier, (if that part was used in other models for example).

Part numbers for the front callipers are different between those with discs measuring 239x10 and 239x12, so to be sure of the right one you need to measure or know the thickness of your discs. That said it looks as if the 10mm disc was only for the Sedan, model L. Whereas the 12mm disc was for the E...

Fair enough. :) Incidentally though, a claim for broken glass will not affect your no claims, though if your excess is toward the top end of the range I can quite see that doing the job yourself could have its attraction. Glad you managed to get it fixed for as little as possible and were equal to t...

Re: V6 tdi no power windows mirrors or alarm beep

Does this apply to only one door?, (if so, I assume you mean the driver's door).

First, easiest and cheapest thing to check is the wire harness between the body of the car and the door, (in that rubber bellows). Wires often fatigue and fracture as the door is opened and closed.

That is interesting. I had no idea that any VW used the orifice tube style of expansion valve, I had assumed they all used the regulated type with the 'sliding door'. Certainly, at that price it would make complete sense to fit a new one. You can also obtain one on ebay for a similar price: https://...

Re: The mystical air con relay 267 or 384 - where is it?

Was the AC working a few weeks ago when you were told it had refrigerant? If it was, then the leak has probably occurred in the time since that check. If it was not working at that time, there could have still been refrigerant present, but in insufficient quantity. Was a pressure test carried out at...

Re: The mystical air con relay 267 or 384 - where is it?

Those painted/stencilled number on various relays (eg 384), are 'production control numbers'. They do not necessarily append that particular device to a specific function. By this, I mean that a number on a relay may be a generic number, meaning (for example) , a 30A relay that can be used in any ap...

Re: Seized bolts on track rod ends.

Two other possible way fo extracting that bolt: 1. Refit the nut, (do not tighten it), so as to make the end of the bolt a larger target area, (as described above). Use a two-leg bearing puller to grip either side of the head, apply pressure with the puller to the threaded end of the bolt so as to p...
