Re: Alarm siren battery

Can you upload a photo of the inside of your alarm with the defective battery? As I said, I have not dealt with the actual problem, but a photo might assist with finding a replacement battery, (for example, there is a 300mAh version that might do the job). It Might also be helpful to see how it is a...

Re: Alarm siren battery

I have no experience of this particular situation, but it might assist to know a bit about the battery. In case there is any misunderstanding, it is not a 5 volt battery. The type number is not 5v 200h it is 5/V200H. It is a pack of 5x 1.2volt NiMh rechargeable batteries. The individual battery type...

Clean it up, (if it is not already clean), and turn it into a six pot planter... much more interesting than anything in the garden centre.

Have a look at the rubber bushes for the anti roll bar, you may find one or more is worn allowing the bar to turn and to move about.

It is in Montenegro.

Google the following for more info, & use Google Maps for the location:

Re: Car underfloor foam

Sorry about that, I misunderstood. The sound absorbers are anti-drumming panels. It looks as if the thick felt is actually a part of the carpet, originally, if not now!

Have a look at this diagram: sound.png The items numbered 1 - 25 are described as 'sound absorbers'. They are supplied in sheets and for the purposes of replacement they are cut to individual shape as required. Part number: 323 863 950, which are 550 x 250 x 2. There is a batch of 6 of them on ebay ...

Re: Wipers stop when stationary!!

If they were stopping at a random place, it would suggest the bonnet sensor was at fault, but as they are parking it suggests, as stated above, that this is normal, (to reduce wiper blade wear).

Try Googling:-

For more examples.

Re: Wipers stop when stationary!!

When the car comes to a halt, and the wipers then stop, do the wipers stop dead, for example, part way through their sweep, or do they park themselves as if being switched off normally?

I bought a pair of front B4s for my SEAT from an ebay seller in Devon. The service was fast and reliable, and the parts arrived, it seems, direct form Bilstein in Leicester. Ebay profile has a link to his website. Hope this helps. https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/spring-loaded-suspension?_trksid=p2057872....

Re: How to stop battery going flat when car not in use ?

Obviously I do not know the whole story here, but it occurs to me that if you use the car only every two months, you are using it only six times a year. Given HM govt's fixation with robbing money from car owners, even when the thing is standing still, I have to wonder about the economics of this. C...

Re: Windows come down when unlocking door

No guarantee, but quickest, easiest and cheapest thing first.... While you do this, keep one of the keys somewhere safe, away from the car as there is a possibility that the doors may lock and you do not want the key locked inside. Open the doors in turn, locate the rubber boot between the door and ...

Re: B5.5 Estate floor mats

Earlier cars had press stud fixings, later models had turn button fixing. There are many variation of part number for these mats depending on year, material, colour etc. You would usually need the year to be able to narrow down the part numbers that apply to your car, and the trim code if you want t...

If so, it looks to me as if it actually a part of the headlight unit, (part of the reflector). There does not seem to be a part number for it either, so I suspect you need another headlight unit.

Sorry.

Re: Think I killed my heated mirrors..

Obviously it is much easier to check the fuse before you start taking things apart, but if you find the fuse has failed you have to ask why it failed. If it has failed, have a look at the wiring looms between the body of the car and the doors, (in the rubber boots), in case there has been a breakage...

When the CTS failed on my SEAT (probably exactly the same item as on your engine), I fitted a high quality, non-genuine item, (cannot recall the brand). It lasted about a month before it too failed. I then shelled out for a genuine item which has been on there for several years now with no problems....

Re: Think I killed my heated mirrors..

Like any heating element they can fail over time, so do not beat yourself up over it, you have not caused them to fail. Not sure about which fuse in a Passat, someone better informed will be along soon I have little doubt. Changing the mirror glass, which includes the heating element, is a matter of...

About a week ago I had new shock absorbers fitted at the front of my SEAT, by my tame mechanic who is about a half mile down the road. Follow the thick lead from the positive of the battery, it will go to a terminal on the solenoid, which is attached to the starter. A dirty engine bay is nothing to do with it. If the pinion is hanging up due to muck or a lack of lubrication the problem will be in the bell housing, not exposed to th...

Re: Rear interior boot light not working

That's your problem!

Does that wire pass between the body of the car and the tailgate/boot/door? If it does, start by looking at the place where the wire bends as the tailgate/boot/door moves, it is probably the location of the problem.
