I've got an issue with my Passat. I've noticed the radiator cooling fan is on all of the time as soon as the engine is started.
Originally the car was getting up to 90c, then in slow moving traffic or even sometimes on the dual carriageway it would drop back to 70-80c and then eventually get back to 90c.
So, I replaced the coolant temp sensor, thermostat and fan temp switch (in the lower rad hose). The car does now warm up to 90c and seems to stay there unless I'm sat still and have the heater fan on high speed.
Is the radiator cooling fan relay faulty? I'm suspecting it is. But, my issue is I can't find a diagram that matches the relay layout on my car. I've taken a look behind the headlight switch and there are 2 relay panels.
Large one has the following relays: 267, 167, 202, 370, 53.
There is a smaller relay rail further forward which only has 2 relays fitted: 373,370. Is there also a fuse for the radiator fan?
Can anyone shed any light on which one I should be taking out and testing or replacing? I've spent hours trying to find a layout diagram or reference that is the same as my car.
Thanks in advance guys, it's driving me a bit nuts
