However, does anyone know where the diagnostic socket is located on my B6 Blueline estate, as I didn't want to start undoing screws as that seems poor design, other than for garages to charge more for removing parts to gain access!

Diagnostic socket location for B6 estate
On my old B3 Passat estate I knew where the diagnostic socket was located ie to the right of the driving wheel but behind a glove type pocket which was easy to remove.
However, does anyone know where the diagnostic socket is located on my B6 Blueline estate, as I didn't want to start undoing screws as that seems poor design, other than for garages to charge more for removing parts to gain access!
