Weird triangular shape break pads

Had my break pads changed on the front yesterday and when I came to look at them they seem very strange indeed. Instead of been a sort of normal rectangle shape that breaks usually are they are more triangle shaped. Please advise if these are normal/safe. They are grinding when breaking and almost at a stand still and have only grinded when breaking below about 10mph. you can hear it and also feel the grind through the break pedal. i put this down to the pads wearing in but im not 100% sure
