Running with AC Compressor removed - Advice Required

Post by nobutyeahbut »

I have an air con compressor that needs refurbishing / replacing. The refrigerant has been removed from the system and I'm wondering whether it's ok to remove the compressor and the associated drive belt (the belt doesn't drive anything else) and use the car normally until I get the compressor fixed?

I guess I'll need to safely secure the air con pipes and electrical connections currently attached to the compressor somehow, but otherwise is there anything I should be aware of before I remove the front of the car over the weekend and tackle this job!?

Many thanks in advance.
