Voice control

My 2013 B7 has voice control activated on the RNS 510 and today with Vagcom made the mute button on the steering wheel activate it. However when i talk it seems to not hear me. Do i have to put an additional microphone or should the existing bluetooth microphone pick my voice up? Car came fitted with bluetooth kit.
2017 Passat 240ps(288bhp) ;-)
