DRL's to spot lights

Has anyone considered doing away with their DRL's on halogen cars and adapting the lamp to accept a 55W halogen bulb, powered via a relayed circuit to main beam? I saw a Fiesta XR2i the other day, with it's fog and driving lights in the front bumper and it gave me the idea.

I'm pretty sure the reflectors would not shed all that much light on the road, but it could look quite cool having an extra set of lights come on when you flash. The difficulty would be figuring out where to take the trigger feed from so that it didn't confuse the Can Bus.
