My B5.5 Estate 1.9TDI

Post by james_2009 »

hi, iv been a member for a few months, been browsing to help fix some problems on my car and iv done a few bits so thought id post pics and make a progress thread :)

I brought the Passat November last year, for £800, was spares or repair as it was in limp mode and had no power, I p/x my Nissan primra estate for the dub and £200 cash.

Cars a 2001.9 TDI PD SPORT 130 AVF engine, Reflex silver, 174K on the clock, heated leather, cruse control, elec everything, auto wipers etc
Full VW service history upto 150k, the rest on back street garages.
BUT only one cambelt change, done at 65K in 2004  so hastily planned it to be changed lol

The drive home (about 2 hours on a good day) was interesting to say the least lol but we made it

Since then iv was tinkering changing bits to try and sort the power issues out, but ended up taking her to VW main dealer to diagnose properly

It turned out to be at first a MAP sensor (iv lready fitted a 2nd hand one with no change) and it broke down about 2 miles from the garage, plooms of black smoke and stalling etc.
They got it towed back and gave me a VW UP for the weekend (awfull car !) lol

got a phone call on Monday saying it was overfueling due to a faulty MAF sensor and Relay 197 was faulty (ECU relay or summit)
Had them replaced and hey presto FULL power ! and she really dose pull like a train !
Also have probs with the heater, a CV joint and a noisy wheel bearing. Not got round to them yet.

I then I done a full service, coolant brake fluid the lot.

Then I had the dredded wet footwell on the passenger side, so had to seal the pollen filter housing etc, and 3 doors were leaking also, so sealed them up, no probs since.
A good polish and wax and she shines like new !

Then I was driving her on the motorway to southort to my mums and POP, lost power and back into limp mode, quickly diagnosed to this :
