B6 1.9 Tdi 105 questions.

Hello All; I'm a new to owning VW ( A6 V6 Avant guy before) and I have a few strange events that I'm hoping someone has seen before and can offer a few words of advice. Firstly a new notes on the car. I bought it June this year (2012) with 43,000 miles. 2007 (56) plate SE Manual FSH and recent cam / water pump service etc when I picked it up. General notes.

1) On cold start it runs a bit lumpy, as if a glow plug is not working, but its the same regardless of the air temperature and it always fires first turn of the key even when its -10c outside.

2) it black smokes on start up for a few seconds, even without touching the throttle

3) when warm it still has a small 'miss' vibration on tick over, enough to feel the 'hickup' sat in the car

4) there is no noticeable loss of power, for a 105 it is quick off the mark and pulls through the gears very well.

5) when you change gear you hear a 'cuck-coo' sound in the boot ( throttle related, not clutch)

6) uses Max to min on the oil stick on 5000 miles ( I see this is typical reading other forums - true ?)

7) no noticeable smoking unless hard accelerating (then the normal black puff)

8) getting 48 to 54 MPG town / motorway speeds.

I don't think there is anything major, but the start up smoke and warm running 'miss' is annoying - any advice please?
I'm just looking to see what (if any) items to check or for the reassurance that I'm not alone and its all common stuff.

having owned (+ still own) Petrol Audi's I have basic OBD readers on VAGCOM etc - no codes showing on the B6.
