boot wont shut!

Hi

i have a recurring problem ( mostly when the weather gets cold) that if i open the boot it wont shut. After about 5 attempts it will shut, but the tailgate open sign appears on the dash. i will drive a couple of miles and i can see the boot rising. It actually looks quite cool as it acts like a spoiler, but it is not ideal so needs to be sorted.

I will then try and shut the boot again and it shuts no problem, this must be linked to the cold mornings and once warmed up seems to work fine, is this a simple case of spaying WD40 somewhere or does the electric boot release need replacing?
