Replace DLR bulbs with LED's?

VW have now released there NEW passat range. Please add any technical know how or info into here. NO FOR SALE/PARTS/TALK here..

Replace DLR bulbs with LED's?

Has anyone replaced the standard Daylight Running Light bulbs with LED versions on an SE? They seem to be readily available but I'm concerned that they may upset the bulb failure warning system. I know that resistors can be placed inline but I'm not keen on cutting wires etc.
