Hello All.

Post by tom b »

Hi!

I've just bought a 2001 b5.5 Passat estate TDi sport. I have accordingly googled "passat owners club uk" and have finished up here. I live in Edinburgh mainly, but am currently in North Yorkshire for the summer.

The car is a big step up from my previous and sadly deceased pug 306 and is very nice to drive. feels like a good solid engine too.

the only problem is that the drivers door sensor is dead and the car locks itself again if I don't open a different door or put the ignition on. I've found a guide ( http://www.taligentx.com/passat/mainten ... kmechanism ) on how to fix the microswitch but it looks a bit of a chore, and I don't have the tools or space to do it at the moment.

As an alternative, is it possible to stop the automatic re-locking sequence? or to set it so that the re-locking sequence only engages the locks, not the alarm and deadlocks? I can live without the door open warning and courtesy light, but would rather the alarm did not go off!
