Rear ABS Sensors Replaced & Now Have An ABS Light

Post by Ross_Carroll »

Hi All, I have seen similar posts on a couple of forms on this topic, however none seem to solve my issue so I thought I would post my issue here and see has anyone else experienced what I am experiencing. Any help would be appreciated as I am completely stumped.

So recently I refreshed my back axle in my 2003 Passat pd130 Highline. I installed new SKF bearings ( Manufacterer Number VKBA 3489 ) & new rear abs ERA sensors ( Manufacterer Number 560320A ). Upon starting the car I had an abs light on. So I read the codes and the rear right was throwing a fault. I couldn’t look at it straight away so waited until the weekend. When I rescanned the car the rear left has had also thrown a fault. The fault is Implausible signal. When I try clearing the faults they both clear, however the rear right comes back nearly instantly after driving the car but it takes awhile for the rear left to throw a fault.

I don’t have vagcom, I am using OBDEleven. From reading the live data on that I can see that both rear sensors are not reading. So the first thing I done was take them out, clean everything and reinstall. From what I can see there is five slots on the bearing and a peg on the sensor, the peg slides into this slot. Is there an orientation the sensor has to sit ? Or an orientation the bearing has to be bolted on to the axle ?
I have the sensor installed until it sits flush with the flange on the rear of the bearing, is this too far ?

If anyone has a pictures of how they installed there’s it would help me to verify I have mine installed correctly. I appreciate any help as I want to get this sorted thanks 👍🏻
