AVF 130 Auto 1500 to 1800 rpm engine hesitation/vibration

Post by HARPERDA »

My first post since becoming a member. I have had my B5.5 since new in 2004. Between 1500 to 1800 rpm I have a hesitation/vibration coming from the front. Often, it is in this range that the auto will change up - yet it is very noticeable at 60 to 70 mph on the motorway - the exact speed my Mrs commutes to work. It maybe unconnected but it has started going into limp mode too. I have had in the last 6 months:
1. Wheel tracking and balancing
2. New Tyres
3. New engine mounts
4. CV joints checked, regreased
5. Turbo cleaner x 3 via the fuel system
6. Turbo cleaner down air intake
7. Gearbox flush and torque convertor checked (all operating at 99% - even after 220k)
8. Whole drive train inspected and checked
Having been over this forum ( and some competitors too!) I have not landed on any previous posts, although from having read a number I am starting to think this could be connected to vacuum lines, boost convertor and turbo actuater not fully opening the turbo - or the turbo vanes ( despite running on vpower since 2014). No codes are showing up and today I spent £120 on diagnostics at a good local general garage, but not VAG specialist. They found nothing. Tomorrow I have asked that I take one of their mechanics for a test drive when I pick it back up, however they were not keen on this when I booked it in and the nearest main VW dealer is in Exeter - which might be worth it.

Any ideas. What would you look at next?

Thank you for reading this post and any thoughts or directions to go.
