Knocking noise

Hi, I have a b5.5 which has a loud knocking noise under acceleration when driving, it's absolutely fine when you back off the accelerator. Also you can rev at idle and there's no knocking, car drives perfectly normally apart from the noise, I've change a loose CV joint but are now at a loss as which direction to go in now, may be dual mass???
