2007 B6 2.0l TDI DSG doesnt like the cold weather!

Post by bricklayer »

can anyone offer any help or ideas,

i have a 2007 2.0L tdi DSG automatic transmission passat, got lots of miles on it and its been very reliable, - but its decided it doesnt like winter this year....

over the last 2 weeks during spells of cold weather i get up and leave for work and have to clear the windscreen of ice and frost....

the car starts fine and i set off on my journey, but after a few minutes of driving i come to a set of traffic lights as i slow to come to a stop the engine often stalls, - sometimes as i decelerate the engine sounds like it misses or missfires... then it dies... other times it dies instantly as you come to a complete stop.... it seems as if the engine could be getting too much fuel as if you accelerate the engine revs dont rise cleanly, its runs ' lumpy'

as an automatic this is not great, -especially if you are pulling out into traffic or at an intersection and the car stalls - i nearly died this week !!!

being an auto you need to select park and go for a restart....

and its very difficult to restart it, it cranks over and over and over and eventually restarts... on doing the restart and cranking i get nearly every warning light show up , these can include, engine management light, low oil pressure light, parking brake fault, low coolant, battery light, low oil pressure message, low windscreen washer fluid, low fuel light the lot !!!!

once the engine restarts all these lights go out and everything appears to be normal on the dashboard...

this engine running lumpy and the stalling fault is usually within the first few miles and usually before the temperature needle starts to rise on the dash display.... once the needle starts to rise and the engine is warmed up the car runs like a dream all day and causes no problem at all, and doesnt stall...it accellerates smoothly and is great....

a friend who has access to a fault code reader says other than the parking brake fault no codes remain.... i was advised to change the engine temp sensor, which has been done

anyone got any ideas on what i should investigate to resolve this cold /engine stalling issue ?

thanks in advance !
