I have just bought my first Passat. Ive liked them for a while but Im an aircooled guy at heart. Iv had a few watercooled VWs as daily drivers over the years - Mk2 Scirocco GT2, T25 panel van, Mk3 Polo and now my Passat.
I wanted something bigger than the Polo but something fairly cheap to run. I was looking for a B4 TDI but couldnt find anything I liked so bought a fairly low milage (compared to the others Id seen for sale) B5 estate and I love it. Its a 1999 reg, 110bhp, 140k miles, sport model, and I think its 100% standard.
I wont go mad with this, i just want a nice solid, reliable daily driver. My Beetle is my money pit... this is my Beetle resto for anyone that might be interested: http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=790812
After a 9.5 hour trip to pick it up, i drove home which took around 3 hours. Arrived home at 2am and the car didnt miss a beat

So, the front drivers arch is a bit rusty, and the headlights have yellowed. Prob not helped as the car has lived in Bulgaria a couple of times as the previous owner used to work over there now and again and took the car with them.
Bulgarian sticker?

I seen a silver wing on ebay which I bought this morning. The bloke dropped it off a couple of hours later. Cant beat that

My mate came over to help get one of our Beetles ready for Bug Jam but he ended up working on my Passat

The wing is a slightly different colour, but I think when I mop the whole car it wont be as noticable. I am really happy with how the headlights have come up though:

Still got a couple of other things to sort, mainly the bonnet pull. My mate has a spare to fix this:

Iv also bought a gamma Ipod kit. Hopefully this will turn up before Bug Jam so I can listen to some decent music on the way
Id like to fit some coil overs and Porsche 928 wheels... but Im not sure if I can bring myself to do it. The car is really standard, and drives really well as it is. I expected it to be more boat like haha.
Cheers
