Massive attack - Protection. [Classic, beautifully recorded album]
Reverend Horton Heat - Smoke 'em if you've got 'em. [It's like a lesson in how to do Rockabilly]
Jill Scott - Who is Jill Scott? [Smooth, fantastic sounding album full of nicely arranged, proper songs]
Prodigy - Experience. [I typed this, and went and put the CD on straight away - sheer brilliance - One of 2 albums I bought twice... 1st on cassette(!), then again on CD... the other was Music for the gilted generation]
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing. [No comment required]
Then there's people like Nitin Sawhney, Dr John, Archie Shepp... I couldn't pick an album - every track is a winner!
Oh, and all the early Joni Mitchell albums (yes, really!) and pretty much everything Jaco Pastorius played bass on.... If in doubt, check out "the chicken" off "the birthday concert"
