Re: "Steering Column Lock Defective"
Being in Ireland is a problem, the polish guys are based in Northampton,my car has been trouble free for over 6 months now.
When mine failed it would even start, lock etc - AA disconnected, reconnected the battery and the car was fine again.
I then made the mistake of driving to VW and paying them ...

B6 HANBRAKE SWITCH
HI
I sourced a replacement handbrake switch off ebay for £22, i went to connect it and really struggled to locate the switch as there is a spring loaded clip that would not locate.
So i went to a local VW specialist and they confirmed it was a copy, you could clearly see that there were no VW ...

You have done 10K and not lifted the bonnet? :0
Mines a 57reg 2.0tdi with 55k and regularly have to top up the oil!
I frequently lift the bonnet and check the oil, in 10K it used a litre of oil. But i did not check the brake fluid levels or if the cap was screwed on as i would expect this to be ...

Re: Parking brake problem/major service prices
thanks for the reply.
It is booked in with Vindis on Friday so i went for the dealer.
It is a bit worrying about the prking brake, so i should expect something to break and the problem to re occur in the future.

Parking brake problem/major service prices
Hi
I got in my car today and I had a warning come up saying Parking brake problem, see owners manual and the Parking symbol stayed lit.
I removed the key restarted and all went away, Interestingly on the last service (10,000miles ago) the brake fluid was changed, I opened the bonnet and inspected ...

Rolex Seadweller please
I've had Tag watches for 20 years now and I love them. A little out of the price range though. If I was spending <£200 I'd be looking at something like a Casio G-Shock probably.....

I also have the prestivo sports on my passat sport, and i cannot fault them...i seem to recal them being £60 fitted.
Grip, wear is good.
Half the price of the premium brands and the grip and wear is certainly not halfed!

ticking from dashboard
I have a TDI sport and a intermitant ticking has started. the noise appears to be coming from the dashboard above the stereo. it 'ticks' for about 5 seconds and then stops, it sounds like a relay?
what could this be, is a sign that something is about to break?

Re: How many miles to a full tank?
i would just like to point out that my last car was a 260BHP Mazda 3 MPS.
For £70 i would get 220 miles if i took it easy!
So the passat is brilliant!
But i must admit that modern petrol cars are catching up.....the new Golf, skoda petrols and getting 40/50 plus mpg now?
But i do love the turbo ...

i have always been tescos, but i was told from a guy to swap to premium every other tank as this will clean out the car. He has told me stories about numerious cars that had to have expensive filters replaced, is it true that when you boot the car the poo that comes out the car would be less if it ...

i have had my injectors replaced and it no better.
i get 600 to a tank at a push ( average around 43mpg)
In my last service i was told that a 'turbo breather pipe' was leaking and would have to be replaced for £200+ i told them no, they ok that is fine as it wont effect perfromance. But if it ...

I agree with your comment, it astounds me how much VW charge...all they need to do is drop the price and they would be turning over loads of repairs.

Well - Very dissapointed with VW, firstly how can they charge £88 for a dignostic check! I did try and get this stopped but the car was already on the ramp. When i went in to pick up the car they told me it was the Steering control unit( the common problem). £56 for the part and over £400 labour ...

Re: 55 plate passat, steering lock light and coil light
VW have diagnosed the problem as steering lock fault, they wouldn't really tell me much, but as i understand it there is a wiring issue where the electric lock will not disengage when you try to start the car, they orginally told me that the car is unsafe to drive as it could lock the steering ...

i appreciate what you are saying about reading the 'very big' thread, but with the AA getting the car started i cant just drive to Northampton as i am i work, so i opted to take it to Vindus which is walking distance from work.

o dear - it has just re appeared
beeped, went steering lock fault and cut out.
It is now completly dead and will not start, the car wont even lock or unlock on the key.
what do i do, does this mean i have to call the stealers to get it towed?
