Re: Oil Pressure Warning
Ok got the turbo changed. Had the independent (Gary Angel racing - brilliant) check the oil pump work dont by the main stealer and sure enough they'd left a bolt rolling around in the sump and hadnt sealed it properly either. Worse than useless!
Incidentally, the car also failed its mot on the cv ...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning
I believe you have a 2.0L PD Tdi passat(140Bhp) wich is known for oil pump/ballance shaft failure...Do a google search for it ! Ever wondered why the old final edition b5.5 passats were dearer or the same price as the new b6 models ? The b6 is less reliable and much more costly than the model it ...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning
Hi,
Looks like the old girl has had a stay of execution. It turns out that the turbo bearings had got damaged when the oil flow stopped. By all accounts the engine was saved by the pure fact that I pulled over immediately. Sorry for any alarm, I shouldnt really post when agitated!

Re: Oil Pressure Warning
Hi,
The garage rang back AGAIN and told me that the fault was the oil pump drive shaft which had become rounded off at the end.

Ok....
Dealer rings me this morning and says there is NO oil pressure and the engine rattles. So either..
A. They can change the oil pump, but they cannot guarantee that it will fix it, in which case....
B. The car will need a new engine at a cost of

Oil Pressure Warning
Hello,
I have a new problem. Whilst on the m3 friday, the MFD came up with "oil pressure -STOP", alarm tone and the limping mode kicked in. Checked the oil level which was fine so got green flag out to take me home. Its with VW now, waiting for them to look at it. Anybody else have the same problem ...

Re: b6 help required
Id go for the 2.0 140 every time. Its really punchy and pulls like a train. As for mechanical problems, mine had some ECU software bugs and a dodgy fuel pump - but it was an early b6(55reg). If youre getting a used one, make sure these probs have been sorted, cos its a great car without them.

Re: need oil top up?
Go through the tech specs in the manual then toddle down to Halfrauds with the details. Job done. Ive always driven diesels and theyve always consumed oil. Its just that the passat has expensive tastes!

Re: Noise/Vibration from rear.
Changed the nearside rear (it was indeed "stepped", almost with a cogwheel pattern). Noise gone, faith in passat restored. You're a gent sir!

Re: Noise/Vibration from rear.
It certainly wasnt the door seals. Ive looked at the rear tyres, and the left rear one is indeed worn down to about 1mm on the inside edge. The other tyre is fine and on about 4mm. Actually that wheel is where most of the noise seems to be coming from. Ill get the tyre changed and see what its like ...

Noise/Vibration from rear.
No, its not me, I always own up to my "rear" noise! The car has started to produce a noise and slight vibration from the rear. Only seems to happen (or is noticeable) over 70mph. At first I thought it was wind noise or uneven road surfaces but its starting to happen more often.

Down on power..
At first I thought I was imagining it, but my B6 is definately down a bit on power. Its only really noticable when the turbo starts up in the low gears - the power delivery seems a bit muted, lacking the "kick" it once had. Im thinking it might be down to clogged air filter. The service counter is ...

Re: Which B6 TDI Model Is The Best To Go For?
Ive heard that the 170 is louder but not noticably faster, according to the motoring press. You could always get a 140 and get it chipped - it will proabably work out cheaper.

Re: need oil top up?
Ive always topped mine up with Castrol 5W30, which meets the requirements stated in the manual -VW 507.00. Still trying to find a cheaper supplier than Halfrauds. She seems to like a pint every 5000 miles or so.....

Might be a bit obvious, but - have you tried raising the angle with the control on the dash?
