Rear door lock/handle

Hi. Posting on behalf of a mate, any ideas would be great fully received......

"Got a problem with rear passenger side door won't open with the outside handle, will do with the inside handle. I've pressed the switch (lock and unlock symbols) and it still won't open from the outside. Got any ideas?"
