Hi all,
recently had an issue with my car (see Subject for make and model) where it was, occasionally, laying down its own smoke screen (white smoke) from the exhaust. The frequency at which it happened diminished until it stopped happening and was replaced by very strong exhaust fumes odour in the cockpit.
Initially advised that it was very likely the turbo blown (or on the way out) so started looking around at a direct replacement - £4,000 - £4500?!?!?!?!?!
Due to the price of a replacement, I decided to spend a bit of money on mine to get it back to its best. First stop was get the 'smoke fault' sorted - turns out it was the EGR cooler (initially leaking --> smoke, subsequently cracked --> exhaust fumes smell) which I've now had replaced (along with the EGR valve itself).
I've got a bit of bodywork to get done but I was wondering is there a 'super service' I can give the engine? The car has done just over 155,000 miles and runs very well (even better since getting it remapped yesterday).
Cheers,
Kim
