2008 Gear stick stiff side to side.

Hi there,

After sitting idle for a few months I've noticed the gear stick is very stiff side to side, so much that it's very hard to get to R 1st and 2nd. It slides up and down just fine to 3, 4, 5 and 6 and with some wriggling I can get to 1 and 2, by pushing the stick down like I'm going to R but then letting it up to get to 1 or 2. It was fine before the car was sitting and the gearbox seems fine when driving, just the side to side issue with the selector.

Any thoughts?
