Disable front PDC, keep rear?

Hi guys, in need of some help with this one please. My trusty Passat had a coming together with a wall (the missus didn't put the parking brake on and we have a steep drive). As a result I now have a second hand bumper to fit which is in good nick, the right colour, but has no holes for front PDC. We never use the front sensors and they have been playing up for ages so not too worried.
My question is, can I simply unplug the front loom from the parking control unit and will this be enough for the rear parking sensors to continue to work normally. I've been looking to see any mention of a parking control unit for rears only, but they don't appear to exist so I'm guessing that all Passats have the same parking control unit whether they have front and rear or just rear??
Also, whereabouts in the car might this might located? Mine is a 2005 estate.
