recently bought a 2010 Passat 2.0 TDI,my first diesel.
Quite pleased so far but am getting concerned at the scare stories I'm hearing about 'dpf ' problems.
I'm trying to avoid using the car for short journey trips but sometimes its inevitable.
It appears that to get the filter to regenerate you have to get it really hot and that simply taking the car on a long run will not do it.I am getting quite long in the tooth now and have a fairly gentle style of driving, rarely does the rpm get
over 3000 and then not for long.
So, my question is ...what do you diesel 'experts' recommend to get the dpf to regenerate and how often?
Thanks
