Drivers seatbelt gets stuck when car is hot

Hello all,
In my 2011 Passat the drivers side seat belt gets stuck (as if you were pulling at it really fast) - but only in hot weather. Local garage quoted around £250 for a replacement from Germany. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm tempted to get a second hand one (?) but cannot find one in beige...
The other thing I'm thinking of is whether to keep some sort of cover over the car to keep it cool.
Any tips etc. would be appreciated!
