Battery light

Morning All,
I have a 2014 2.0TDI estate. A recent MOT highlighted a low battery, the battery light was sometimes dimly lit. I changed the battery and all the outputs are correct. 14.6V charging by the alternator, 12.5V without.
The battery light however is still showing and in unison, when the battery light shows the petrol light also comes on.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
