We are going to the Alps in December, SWMBO wants to see the mountains with more snow on them.
I have a 2012 SE on 235/45R17 tyres on 7" rims - standard size. Manual says no chains on 7" wheels.
Currently in dialogue with VW customer services (UK) who are trying to find out exactly what the restriction is. THe Factory response is that I should fit smaller wheels and tyres (e.g. 205/50 R17 on 6 1/2" wheels)
Now it would appear that the problem is space behind the wheel and something like the Thule K-Summit should be OK. (also in dialogue wioth Thule)
Anyone used snowchains on this size of wheel/tyre and if so which chains?
