It may be a DSG / Auto hold thing, but sometimes the car won't start because the "Press brake to start" message is on the dash. The brake pedal is rock hard, and virtually impossible to press down, so the brake light switch won't operate, therefore allow the engine to start. If I take the key out and my foot off the brake, then try again, it will work.
When I get in the car, the first thing I do is put my foot on the brake (as I would put my foot on the clutch in my manual Golf,) so perhaps I should turn the ignition on first, before pressing the brake, then starting? I can't find anything in the handbook about it, so thought I's ask if anyone else knew what I was doing wrong.
