Electric motor noise on a W8 Passat

Hi guys , i have an 05 Passat W8 auto, its not being used at the moment ,so I disconnect the battery leads to save it going flat. Thing is I can hear a small electric motor working on the passenger side under the bonnet, it sounds like a fridge motor, does anyone no what it is and how its being powered. There is a solar panel built into the sun roof is it that. Ta
