Wipers Stopped Dead Instantly

Hi All,

Long time since I've posted on here however...

Driving home yesterday evening my wipers stopped dead, instantly in the middle of the windscreen. Luckily I was only 2 minutes from home so parked up and had a look, the fuse is fine and the wipers moved by hand back to the rest position. When I activate the wiper now I can hear the motor click and then whirr for the duration it would normally operate for, so I *think* the stalk, relay and motor are OK.

Anyone got any other suggestions before I start pulling it apart? Is there a mechanical linkage or anything which commonly breaks on these? That's all I can think it must be if the activation and motor are working alright.
