Steering Wheel Creaking

My steering wheel has begun creaking, only when making a slow left steering motion. I've sprayed everything with WD40 and checked the steering shaft down to the passenger footwell. Can't seem to work out where it's coming from. At first I thought it was the steering wheel as is sounds like a plastic creaking noise, but not I'm not so sure if its a transfer noise from the steering rack - do they make this noise when they're failing? Any tips or advise ?
