Recently acquired Passat b5.5 1.9 Tdi with 5 speed box and working through the various problems with it, biggest being the dreaded rear door lock actuator failing and not being able to open the door, found an easy fix that did not invoke a hammer a Chisel. ;)

Next on list is reversing lights not working, bulbs ok as is fuses so it points to the switch, from what I’ve read it’s on the right hand side of gearbox above the driveshaft, checked and I can’t find anything that resembles the switch, do make things worse I believe there are two different types of switches.

Can someone confirm the switch details and how you go about replacing it, looks like you need thin arms.
