Recommissioning the Air Conditioning 1.9tdi

Loving my B5.5 1.9 tdi but the aircon doesn't work and it hasn't worked since I got the car. There was no gas in the system, seemed pointless re-gassing it without changing the rad, as it was cheap enough I put a new one in.
Now the compressor doesn't run (yes there is enough gas in the system), standard suspects are the clutch on the compressor and the switch on the rad. Any ideas on how difficult the clutch is to change?
BTW I found a guy in TW14 who does a re-gas on any standard car for £30 (R134a only). Let me know if you need his details?
