GL4/GL5 GEARBOX OIL

My mechanic who's also a very good mate of mine has put some GL5 75W90 LIMITED SLIP DIFF OIL into my gearbox yesterday
The reason being is he said its a better quality oil, especially because im having first gear selection issues,
After reading up on GL5 i really think for once he's made a huge mistake, but i didn't want to say anything because he's a mate
So, is this ok to run for now, or do i need to give it a immediate 3rd gearbox oil change in as many weeks
