Fitting coilovers......

Am going to be attempting to fit coilies to my B5 w reg passat, i have heard a few horror stories ref removing the pinch bolt that holds in the ball joints, does anyone have some good advice on removing these bolts.

Also, are the bolts to hold in the front struts located under the fuse box in the scuttle panel(for the o/s)?? Have had a quick look whilst washing it. And the rears are located upwards into the shock, accessed from under the arch??
