Lowering Passat B5

Post by Toterz »

Hi Guys I am a complete Newbie to the site so appoligies if this question has been answered which i think it probably has, many times.

I have been into VDubs for a while now but have just bought my first Passat which im lovin. Its a Black 2001 130 PD TDI Sport running VW 17's. Really happy with it, but it has about 2 inches of daylight between the arches and tyres which i would like to erase.

I dont want to slam it to the tarmac on Coilovers just a subtle 40mm - 45mm will do the trick. The funds are tight so I was looking at GMAX 40mm Springs (please correct me if im going down the route of trouble) on standard springs.
Now is it ok to lower it on standard shocks because ive used suspension kits before and coilovers and the suspension is always to firm.

Cheers Guys
