dump valve question

dump valve question
hi got a question hope some one can help i want to change my dump valve on my 98 1.8 turbo and have been told i have to get a recirculating dump valve but notice you can buy normal ones what i wanted to know is will a normal one be ok or will the engine run poo id love a forge splitter valve but monies tight with it being near christmas any help would be appreciated thanks
