32b engine change

Hello,
I have a 1982 Passat with a YP petrol engine. Latly the engine has developed a weird noise and I don't trust it annymore.
A friend of mine gave me a engine to swap over. It is a 1600cc engine from a 1989 audi 80. Engine code PP. He gave me some information that I should be able to fit it in my passat if I change over the manifolds and distributor from my YP engine. There is one thing to sort out and that is an extra cooling liquid channel in the cylinder head that my original manifold wil not cover. Annybody got some pointers and info for me?
