Quick keyfob fix

Quite often I am finding my keyfob won't open the doors unless I open the fob up to expose the battery and close it again, then hey presto it works.
So I started to think that maybe over time the battery loses its connection with the terminal prongs that touch the batery (maybe the metal the prongs are made from have lost their spring). I have tried pulling the prongs out more, but only lasts a short time.
So I now have a small disc of cardboard under the battery which is essentially pushing the battery higher and it's perfect again. No more dodgy connection.
