How to control windows off your fob.

Post by desertstorm »

Before you follow this process understand that you are rewriting the code of the EEPROM in the CCM and always check twice what memory locations you are changing and what the values are in those locations.
You should only change those memory locations described with the values mentioned. Do not deviate from this and you should be OK. If you are in any doubt then don’t do this. I take no responsibility for this process, I have garnered most of the following information from several sites on the internet and performed this mod successfully on my 2002 estate.

To do this mod you need a laptop with a serial connection, or a long serial extension cable from your desktop PC, a copy of VDC PRO which is linked to here, when you click on the download link scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the free button, This will take you to another page where you will have to wait 60 seconds before the download button appears.
http://rapidshare.de/files/45379732/VDC ... e.zip.html
and a serial version of the VAG-COM cable.

This won’t work with a USB VAG-COM lead because VDC PRO is a DOS program that boots up without starting windows so there will be no drivers running.

After you have downloaded the Zipped program unzip it and you will have a program called image.ISO. Burn the .ISO to a CD, you can download a very good free program to do this here
http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Too ... Burn.shtml

You now have a bootable CD from which you will be able to run the program.
Insert the CD in the CD drive and reboot the laptop/ PC, You have to get the laptop to boot from the CD drive to run the program, If your laptop/PC does not boot from the CD drive before the C drive then it will just fire up windows as normal. You need to change the boot order, On my Toshiba Satellite this can be done by pressing F2 during the bootup process. You may have to change the boot order in the BIOS.

When the Laptop boots you are presented with a DOS window, on my laptop you get a DOS prompt A:\>, at that type dir. You should see a list of various programs to run from the root directory at the bottom you should have a program called VAG which has a BAT file extension.
Type VAG at the prompt and enter, The program VDS-PRO should fire up.

From the menu you can configure the baudrate to fixed 9600 by pressing ALT and F together then ALT and C to select connect and selecting Fixed and 9600 Bd using the ALT F and the cursor up / down buttons to toggle the speed. To exit a menu at any point without changes press ESC.

It is best if your laptop has a fully charged battery or is running on mains / 12V off the car, you don’t want the battery going flat during mid programming.

Use the following procedure to reprogram the module, The following uses the values that I used to change my CCM on a 2002 Estate.

1. Turn ignition on (Do not start car)
2. Connect to central convenience (46), just type 46 on the main screen.
Image

3. Start login procedure (11), again type 11
4. Use the code 19283
5. When you have logged into the CCM you can see the module type in the bottom left hand corner mine was a C0959799B.Image
If you look at the bottom of this how to page you will see various modules for saloons and estates also for other VAG cars I haven’t tried these but I think there is a very good chance they will work.

6. Read serial eeprom (26), type 26
Image
Check memory locations:
04361
04362
04363

They should show up with 2 lines of values just look at the 1st value on the dec04361 line it should read 75

for all 3 memory locations the 1st value should be 75
(In the picture it shows 67 that is because it was already written)

6. write serial eeprom (27)
Image
you then type in the 3 memory address again:
04361
04362
04363

and put the new value as 67
(in the picture both values are 67 as I was writing 67 when it was already 67)
Image
You can now read serial eeprom (26) again to check that the memory address values have been changed correctly.

7. end output (06)

close and exit program disconnect from car.

Now exit your car and lock it. When you now open your car with the keyfob and hold the button the windows should start to roll down and stop when you lift your finger. Also when you lock the car now and hold the button down the windows will go up (close) until you lift your finger off the button...

And hey presto you hopefully have remote windows!!!

If it doesn't work just put your old values back in there should be no harm done
