Looking for a good VAG mechanic

Hi guys, anyone here can recommend a good VAG mechanic in West London or within an hour drive?
Preferably someone who doesn't ask for a kidney just to look at the car...
A garage around here asked me £400 labour to change discs and pads on my Passat and I'm supplying the parts!!!
I didn't know mechanics charge more than private medical specialists.
