Mufflerectomy question.

Okies so this weekend I have replaced my turbo (cheers Gaz) fitted decat pipe and had a general clean up of both fanimolds etc.
I have fitted the link pipe from cat back, but am unsure of the next step. As the turbo muffles the exhaust gas note, is it better to not have a straight through because a silencer wouldn't make a difference, or should I get a cherry bomb tail silencer? Has anyone experience of a cherry bomb?
