Stop/Start Restart Triggers

I have a December 2019 150hp diesel manual saloon which comes with start/stop. I had understood that the engine would restart when the clutch was depressed ready to select a gear to move off and it certainly does this. But I have recently noticed when following another vehicle that the engine will restart as soon as that vehicle starts to move. Has anyone else noticed this and if so is it a recent addition following a software update or might it have been there all along?
