Nice car. I know that you can get rails for the 5.5 from http://www.oempl.us and am sure that they would fit your 5.

New custom airbox and inlet pipe on my W8

Just had a custom Airbox fabricated and installed by RS Fabrications in Banbury. The quality is stunning with welding I have never seen as good. Would recommend them to anyone and this design may fit other B5's and 5.5's. I had it done as the engine temp is so high I felt I was superheating the air ...

Mine has been dropped by about 60-65mm although it was as high as a range rover on the standard suspension. I don't get any rubbing although think it's slightly low for handling

The memory seats are great. You can program them so that they know whose key is whose and will move the seats and mirrors to that persons pre-sets as soon as they stick the key in the ignition. You can also program your passenger mirror so that it dips when you reverse so you don't kerb your wheels!...

May be worth getting a warranty although make sure the garage manages it though. I had the thermostat fault and they liaised with the VW warranty company and informed me it had been approved...it hadn't in reality and when I went to claim I didn't get my £800 back!! They won't normally pay main dea...

Thanks will give them a call. Yours is nearly as low as mine so he should be able to do something with it.

Like the black mirrors on the car-they look great-might need to steal that idea from you? Although we don't want the cars identical as I managed to pick up a Votex rear spoiler!

Getting a W8...good lad!!

I got my 03-2003 W8 estate back in April 2006 with 65k on the clock for £10.5k. It like yours is Manual which is far better in my humble opinion. The car came with every option except Recaro seats which I would dearly love (or Col's Leather/Alcantaras) and the solar sunroof. Autotrader normally has...

Wheel alignment, camber and tracking for lowered cars

Just had 2 new tyres on the front of the car and they were both worn on the inside shoulders so duly booked it into VW to get the tracking etc done....just had a call back saying they can't get it on the ramps because it's lowered....is is quite low but a previous dealer down south could do it. Now ...

If you can make one that fits my W8 then I might be interested as it's way too low for comfort at the moment

Pretty simple. Normally to do discs there are a couple of alan bolts on the caliper that you need to undo. Support the caliper so there isn't any strain on the brake cable and then undo the disc. They will normally have a screw that holds it in place, but sometimes they don't. Fitting brake pads is ...

Cooked brakes

Quickest upgrade to help with cooked brakes is to change to performance brake fluid which should have a higher boiling point. Getting bigger discs will work well, but will mean you need to get the calipers to match and get bigger rims to fit round the bigger brakes. I don't know what size are on you...

W8 Airbox

Nice to see another manual W8 out there. W8 is probably right about the airbox. The engine gets really hot which means that the filter will just be sucking in hot air. You can get a K&N panel filter that will fit the W8 which will maybe help. I personally didn't notice any real difference so min...

Need brakes

Just noticed a bit in the thread about W8 rear discs being solid. The rears are vented and are 269mm * 22mm, bigger than many fronts. The fronts are 334mm * 34mm. I'm trying to upgrade so may have mine for sale if I can find bigger replacements.

Will post in items for sale if I pull it off

I got KW fitted to my W8 estate and they have been great. Ride isn't half as bad as I thougt it would be and with the stainless steel threads they don't rust and only take about an hour to raise or lower the height They did cost a bit, but I thought it was well worth paying as they should last that ...

I bought what I thought was VAG.com from the bay for around £20, but there isn't really that much stuff that's useful on it as it's all locked. You can fault diagnose, but can't see all the readings as it's not fully licenced. I ended up paying for the licence from rosstech as the exchange rate mak...

Suspension

just posted some details on the KW coilovers that I had fitted. really good and still retains good comfort. Fully adjustable for height which is good and in reality I can adjust the whole car in an hour. Maybe cost a bit more at £680 a set but they are made from stainless steel so don't rust after ...

Passat Suspension

Hi, I fitted KW type 1 coilovers to my W8 estate and they are great. The amount of body roll has been reduced and the 4x4 look has gone. Ride is surprisingly ok although at the moment I am only running 17's, but is no worse than it was on the factory stuff. I can send you a photo so you can see ahat...
