Re: A/C experts? Compressor

I have the same thing, on tickover I get a noise when AC engaged and in hot weather it will squeel like a fanbelt slipping. My guess is that the clutch on the AC compressor has had it. I don't remember the tensioner on the AC compressor when I did my cambelt I'll have to go back to my pictures and h...

Re: Which new diesel estate would you recommend?

To be honest I swapped back from my 525D to my B5.5 Passat, reason ultimately was cost. I never had issues working on it, I changed the inlet manifold, deleted the swirl flaps, de-cat and airbag suspension, it was actually easy to do as all the bolts coming off were a lot easier than the Passat of t...

Re: Fuel Filter housing bolts

There are some Irwin bolt removers you can get from Screwfix which are designed to remove rounded bolts they are designed for such a job and make it easy, you can try the torx method but it doesn't always work.

My Mrs is great with the car and all my hobbies, she sees it as saving money that would otherwise have to be spent paying someone to do a service, or cam belt or anything needed to keep me mobile.

Re: Bluetooth or WIFI OBD adapter older Diesel's

I have one for my 2003 TDI it works ok for using Torque but it's not great for diagnostic stuff just basic ODBII information, for diagnostic and programming I use OBDeleven dongle it's only Bluetooth though and only works on Android.

Re: 130 sport not much of a build, build thread

So just a small update: Been and had my MOT and it passed with only an advisory on rear brake discs. I asked if she was worth keeping on the road and the tester said yes! I asked about the opacity test and he said the machine wasn't working on my car but said anything pre 2008 won't be affected, he ...

Re: 130 sport not much of a build, build thread

So not done anything to the car for ages, 2 main reasons: 1. It hasn't needed anything apart from the usual service 2. With new MOT rulings I'm a bit weary of spending any money on the old girl if she isn't going to pass emmisions! So speaking of MOT mine is due in April so at the end of the month I...

Re: Front interior lamp unit

Yes the whole unit pops out and you can change the bulb from the back. There is a metal frame in the headliner and it's thin so be careful if jamming a screwdriver in it.

Re: HID kit

As Gaz said a tester cannot open anything up or check which bulbs are fitted so as long as the beam pattern is correct it will pass.

I got a 35w 6000k kit from HID-DIRECT I would have gone for 5000k except the side lights I had were 6000k so I wanted a match

Wheel balancing

Hi folks, I had 2 new front tyres fitted yesterday and the fitter suggested I have alignment done. Just looking for some recommendations for alignment and a rough idea on cost? Tyres on the drive fitted the tyres so it wasn't like they were touting for business but it was clear the inside was wearin...

I'm feeling positive about it, smoke reduction would be nice although it's not that bad and the smell would be an advantage, I only notice the pong when the engine is cold and the first thing I do is reverse in the morning!

Re: Two stroke experiment starts today

Thanks guys. So my initial thought was it hadn't had time to go through the pipes but obviously it doesn't take long. The reason I put the full lot in was that I had read on other posts that on the first tank you can overdose to get it through the system and B it shot out so quick if I had wanted to...

Re: Two stroke experiment starts today

Well today I put my first dose of 2 stroke in, literally just 20 mins ago! I had a nightmare getting a container so just picked up a carlube 500ml pot and since it's the first dose I put all 500ml in to 52l of fuel! So am I imagining that the vibrations through my pedals have almost disappeared and ...

Yes it's normal for the windows to open and close with the key but not the fob.

Good job on the CCM must have been fun!
