I believe you have to mod the standard air box to fit the cone in.... But without a decent cold air feed direct to it you're get serious heat soak hence why 90% use panel filter I guess you just want the sound??? Just cut up a standard air box till it looks and fits ok??

Magnatech 5w/30 fully synthetic is what goes in mine every time.I was told this is 1 of the best for this type of engine and to change as regular as possible don't exceed 10k and aim for 6k oil changes ? Don't know how true this is but I've never had a problem in mine and covered around 30-35k

I have the same in my passat and am currently upgrading mine I'm starting with front mount ,panel filter,diverter valve,exhaust run that set up for a little while then I'll look into turbo and injectors etc all depens how deep your pockets are and what you want as a end result but as far as ecu goes...

fitted panel filter while there was thinking of fitting intercooler opened box then stuck it back in the boot i decided it's definately to cold for me lol

you get any paperwork with who done the conversion? id say if you have or know who done it give them a call see if they can shed some light on if the problems always been there or if they knew what it could be? gotta be worth a call ....failing that chat with a few places you know are/or capable of ...
