That's precisely what I was thinking not sure about the hose clip bit where is the best place to get a new oil pickup from and poss the oil pump?

That's what I thought I'm going to check the oil pump and pickup pipe for gunge and give it a clean out but then that's it put it together and run it

Already done that can't see anything amiss there were a few shards but I think they were from the lump I found

I think I'll still check that the bearings are OK are the main and big end bolts stretch bolts?

Its pretty stiff hard metal and heavy I'd say its prob steel, to me it looks like a bearing that's been be shed around a bit but we have got the sump off and there are no signs of where it came from!!!

just dropped the oil out of my 20vt and found this hanging out of the sump plug hole .........






WTF to me it looks like a bearing but the engine ran with no bottom end rattles can someone elaborate?

depends on the condition of the car and the price if its cheap enough i wouldn't worry too much its a 2 day job for 2 people on the drive if you had access to a ramp it can be done in a day and the clutch kit is £120 on trade from gsf

that says to me its very worn mate or needs bleeding ive just done mine gearbox or engine out job not easy
