CCM Replacement - Coding Question

Hi, On my wife's 2007 VW Touran I had an electrical issue which fried the CCM module and I got a replacement from ebay. Unfortunately I could not login to the old unit to get any coding information. I have installed the new unit and am having issues as my Ancel VD500 reads the CCM module, but my Anc...

Re: ABS below 5mph kicks in

Could be the reluctor/tone ring. Either broken or very corroded or dirty. A bit of work to get to it, but new ones can be found for not very much (check it's the right one)....https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140674090928?fits=Car+Make%3AVW%7CModel%3APassat&hash=item20c0d447b0:g:0PsAAOSwiHpaPRp2&...

Re: ABS below 5mph kicks in

Ok, I figured out what is going on!

Hooked up VCDS and logged the wheel speeds and below 8mph the left front wheel goes to 1mph (effectively 0).

So, seems there is an issue with the wheel speed sensor of the left front!

ABS below 5mph kicks in

Hi, Got a weird one that manifest itself on both of my Passat's after redoing the brake fluid after having to replace the brake calipers. First the Black Passat got bled, but then as you hit 5mph the ABS would kick in. I re-bled as there was still some air coming through and then it stopped kicking ...

Re: 'Free Flow' Exhaust

So if you can find someone who could weld it for you, you would be happy with that? If so, it might be worth stating your approximate location in case someone here knows of someone there who may be able to assist. Just a thought. Yeah, I will be happy of it can be welded and my son may have found a...

Re: 'Free Flow' Exhaust

[/quote] Do you mean that it is repairable but you just cannot find anyone who can weld it for you, or that you do not want it welded / that it is not repairable? I do not know anything about 'free flow' exhausts except that the noise they make, (even if 'not too loud'). would soon cheese me off, (b...

'Free Flow' Exhaust

Hi,

My middle box bracket has broken on my Estate and I am not finding someone who can weld it for me!

Considering options, does anyone know of a 'not too loud' performance/free flow silencer that I could put on instead of a stock one?

Tx in advance,
Aidan

Re: Sinking brake pedal after fluid replacement

P.S. the reason I had the wrong one is that both were sitting next to each other and I did not notice that the correct one was DOT 4 and the other one is DOT 4 ESP! Both bottle look exactly the same, just the ESP is different in the large writing and then obviously the different specs of the ESP com...

Re: Sinking brake pedal after fluid replacement

Which type of fluid did you first use? I only ask in case it requires flushing or something like that. It was DOT 4, slightly different specs, all of which are on the correct fluid, but the correct fluid had more specs that the other one. I just did a complete flush of all 4 sides and happened to '...

Re: Sinking brake pedal after fluid replacement

Fluid level stays constant from what I can see and I cannot see any leaks on either side after the change. I checked the fluid I bought and I seem to have bought the wrong one. Just shot out to get the correct fluid, so will re-bleed the whole system now again. I agree and still feel like there is a...

Re: Sinking brake pedal after fluid replacement

The callipers are 'handed' (left & right). When a calliper is installed, the bleed nipple must be on the top of its housing (pointing upwards). If the bleed nipple is on the bottom of its housing and is pointing downwards there will be a pocket of air trapped in the caliper and you will never b...

Re: Sinking brake pedal after fluid replacement

P.S. the front calipers are really 'loose' against the disk now and they hardly get hot at all compared to before when the seized one, just before it seized, being super hot and the other side very hot.

maclee wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:41 pm Have you changed the callipers at the same time as the fluid, (or recently)?
Yeah, I had to replace both front calipers as the one had seized and the other was close to seizing, also replace the flexible brake lines as well seen as I was doing the calipers.

Sinking brake pedal after fluid replacement

I have replace the brake fluid on my car using a pressure bleed system. But, now, when the car is started and I press on the pedal, it sinks! Prior to this it was really stiff right at the top, but I think some of that was due to the front calipers where one had seized and the other one was close to...

Re: Piping hot front brake

Forgot to reply with the update on the brake issue. I tried the steps you gave and showed the cable was probably not the issue but that the caliper was definitely on the way out. I ordered some new calipers and just after they arrived the caliper basically seized up when I was on the motorway close ...

Re: Piping hot front brake

Wow, that is an awesome way to test if it is the hose as I was thinking I need to remove it do the check!

Was not looking forward to taking the pipe off only to find it is good and then have to bleed the system without solving the issue.

I am going to check tomorrow and see what happens.

I did grease everything up, including the bolts that hold it all together, but no difference to the heat

Re: Piping hot front brake

Unfortunately my disks and pads are basically brand new and only have a few thousand miles on them. They still look brand new, so no discernable wear on them yet. I will get some new brake hoses and see if that works. Car has +155k miles on already, so things like this are going to happen at some po...

Piping hot front brake

Fitted and was nice a tight as well, so no need for clamps.

Awesome, I have actually ordered one of those and I might not even have to use clamps if the fit it tight enough!

I will fit it and see if it leaks and if so get some clamps.

Re: Driver door open status not working

Even though the previous owner made a bit of a mess of the car, I can thank him for drilling holes in the floor pan to get rid of the water! So, it is mainly the carpet that gets wet and the volume of what would be standing water was draining out. Hoping to fix the panel this weekend and then the wa...

Re: Driver door open status not working

Cool, I was thinking about using silicon to 'make' a seal, so my idea was not a bad one! Tried to see if I could get some of the strips for the sealer to replace it like original, but way too expensive! Fortunately my wiring looks a little neater: http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/download/file.php?m...

I put the new lock mechanisms in and now everything is working again.

And, I can confirm that the foot well on the passenger side is getting wet due to the seal missing from the passenger door!
