Re: Purchased B8 2017 - Advertised as DSG 7 Speed, Actually 6 Speed
See if you can find the gear ratios for each box online. It may be that the 7sp has shorter ratios in the middle for quicker acceleration and the same ratio for 7 as 6 in the 6sp. Make sure the dealer compensates you accordingly - you could negotiate free services etc. The additional gearbox service...

This can also be caused by the regular thermostat or temperature sensor.

Re: Passat 2.0 tdi bluemotion high fuel consumption
ray112- there is in the Passat compared to a golf with the same 2.0tdi! There is far more space for air to circulate in there is what I was trying to get across, rather than a spacious residence for the engine with lots of space for its family to play.

Re: Passat 2.0 tdi bluemotion high fuel consumption
I can believe that from cold. This morning at 13 degrees C my B6 took 1 mile of slow traffic up to 40mph and 9 miles of 70mph to reach 90 degrees C oil temp, and an indicated 43mpg. These modern tdis are very efficient and there is a lot of space under the bonnet to help cool things. The temp droppi...

Re: Head lights on Passat are useless
I just realised the b7 doesn’t have the projectors so forget what I said about putting the bulbs in upside down. I did find that the uprated bulbs were good in my Jetta with reflectors. Hope they work for you.

Re: Head lights on Passat are useless
In the B6 you can put the bulbs in upside down which makes them really bad. Other than that they have a sharp cut off and don’t have the super high colour temp to fool your eyes you can see more. They probably aren’t as bad as you think but they are not that bad. You can raise them via the screws on...

Re: B6 hot starting
I had a 2.0pd that did this, intermittent hot starting problems like you describe for several months and then refused to start at all one morning. It was a cam position sensor.

Re: rear suspension/handling problem
Not in the middle where mine had broken if you look properly. At the tips you may need it on a ramp to see properly - however I don't know if a snapped off tip would cause the problem you describe. Is it hard to spot?

Re: rear suspension/handling problem
would hope so!once at vw, twice at halfords and once and Kwik fit
I had what you describe although not as extreme and when I looked underneath the off side rear spring had snapped in the middle and broken ends were back together and lined up!

Re: That P2015 fix
Sorry, My first post was not massively clear. It started displaying the code one morning after I left the car idling whilst clearing frost and ice. It then cleared the following morning after getting to work. Later in the week the CEL re appeared after a 2 mile trip to nursery. It cleared again afte...

Re: That P2015 fix
Thanks for the response, I have replaced the whole manifold and motor with an OEM part- was a manifold issue. I should have been more clear in the original post. My fault was intermittent when doing short trips and would then clear after 3 longer trips. When the bracket was fitted the CEL came on pe...

That P2015 fix
Afternoon all, Has anybody carried the bracket fix to limit the movement on the swirl flaps? If you have did it work? I only ask as it didn’t work when I had it done. If I google the issue, it seems there is one other guy on an Audi forum. I’m wondering if this is unusual or people just don’t commen...

Re: Cambelt + Waterpump Kits
When we bought the Passat I asked the dealer (not vw) to change the cambelt etc. On the invoice it said cambelt kit and then had a mix of parts, Gates/Dayco/ IHN(?). I assumed they got the cheapest OEM supplier parts to do the job but I didn’t pay so didn’t question it. That is similar to chillout19...

Re: Cambelt + Waterpump Kits
Dayco make the factory fit stuff. I was asked by an independent if I wanted a genuine kit or Dayco. I said whichever is cheaper. The box from Dayco contained a belt with VAG marked on it.

Gunk between window glass and door seal
I was cleaning the car this morning and noticed that there is a huge amount of dirt between the glass and door seal. I gave it a good soaking in silicon cleaner and rubbed it with a cloth corner and got a lot out. What came looks like soil has stated to form! I didn’t want to put anything hard in th...

Is the outlet from the bottle blocked? Is the gauze still in place? Have you been using screen wash? - lime scale especially if the car was sat around might have collected if not.

Re: Uneven tyre wear on rears
Go to Halfords tomorrow and buy a tread depth gauge. If it’s 6 mm on the inside and 4mm on the outside then it’s not idea but one of those things - clover leafs and roundabouts too fast, heavy load in the boot/ tow bar affecting the suspension geometry. In an older car it could be the bushes but buy...
